I’ve been a happy bunny this week as I’ve entered and won quite a few competitions. Most of the competitions I enter are on Twitter and Facebook and up to now I have been lucky in winning a few, but of relatively little value.
On Wednesday, however, I had a BUMPER day. Firstly, I entered a competition on the Family Tree Magazine twitter feed, which was a simple retweet and ‘like’ on Facebook for a chance of winning one of five pairs of tickets to Who Do You Think You Are – Live! I was pleased to find out later that I had won!
If you’re not aware of WDYTYA – Live! it’s a massive family history fair at Olympia in London, sponsored by WDYTYA the TV show. As I have an interest in family history I had wanted to go to the fair, but could not really justify the cost of attending (£22 per ticket), so you can imagine how thrilled I was to win a free pass! A little bit sad today, however as I won’t be able to attend – such is life for a mummy, when childcare is difficult :0)
But in another piece of good news, on the same day I also won a subscription to Ancestry.co.uk, courtesy of The National Trust Magazine, also on their Twitter feed. This was very good news as I had been researching my family tree, but I had not been able to renew my subscription as I couldn’t really afford it (it’s £155!!). I have been looking at renewing my subscription for a while, but still not really feeling like I could afford it so to win it was brilliant!
I’ve also won a few books this week and been selected to read and review some proof books, so all in all I think I’m coming out ahead this month! Ooh and I also won £10 on the lottery – not a fortune, but will buy a few more tickets at least.
Twitter is an excellent place to win prizes – usually the competitions/giveaways are just simple retweets, or a fairly easy question and I’ve been quite lucky since joining Twitter (two years ago I now realise!!), so I’ve been keeping up with the retweets this week but, as yet, have not been as successful!
