I’m quite excited because this weekend I shall be doing something new and different! I’m taking the opportunity of combining a trip to visit family with a visit to the 6th Mold Food Festival which is taking place on 24th & 25th September in (obviously) Mold.
The Mold Food Festival is billed as a celebration of all things food and will feature exhibitors (who will, hopefully, be liberal with the samples…), celebrity chefs, competitions and live music, to make it a fun event for the whole family. I’ll be attending on the Sunday as I’d quite like to attend the demonstration and book signing by Jean-Christophe Novelli, but having said this, I can imagine his sessions will be quite busy, so I’ll be happy just wandering among the exhibitors. A quick glance at the exhibitors list shows an array of different food and drink producers, many of whom are local to Mold, including confectioners, butchers, bakers and even a Buffalo farm so there are lots of things to look at.
There’s also a competition for Joe Public – if you’ve got a Bara Brith to die for, simply bring it along to be judged on the day – and a whole range of activities to keep the kids busy. The Flintshire Chef of the Year and Teen Choice competitions will also be judged at the festival.
So that’s where I’ll be this weekend – and I’ll have a full report (and possibly a food baby) when I get back!
