Keep On Grouping On – with a sneaky giveaway…

Group buying sites are springing up like nobody’s business, but I think the first one I signed up for was Groupon.

The first thing I bought was a photography day for Mr W as he’d just bought himself a semi-pro camera and a few lenses and I thought it would be a nice birthday surprise. The best part was that it was being sold on the supplier website for £150 and on Groupon it was only £30, so quite a bargain for a day’s worth. Buying the voucher and booking the day was really easy – I just bought the voucher from the site, then contacted the chap who was running the course and booked Mr W on to it – very quick, very easy and he had a really good time.

When I was asked to take a look at Groupon’s services, given my love of food, I opted to purchase a deal for a champagne afternoon tea at the Norfolk Royale Hotel, which is local to me. The original cost of this deal was £40 for two people, but using Groupon halves the cost to only £20 – when you consider that this is a well respected four star hotel, it’s a real bargain (can I use that word any more in this post!?). Again, it was easy to buy the voucher, then I called the hotel and booked the tea. In the event I have had to cancel and will reschedule as Mr W has to go to hospital over the time I was planning on going, but the voucher is valid until July so I will rebook it and tell you all about it when I get there!

So – do you fancy winning a £10 Groupon voucher? Of course you do, so here’s how…

This competition has now closed and the winner was Hazel Wright. Congratulations!

All you have to do is take a look at the Groupon website and tell me which of their deals you would use the voucher for. I used the Bournemouth Groupon site as it is local to me, but you can select your nearest town or city to view appropriate deals for you.

For an extra entry, simply tweet the following, then leave another comment telling me you’ve done so:

“I’ve entered to win a £10 Groupon voucher with @svmitche and @Groupon_UK:”

Important Notes: The competition will end at 10pm on Tuesday 1st May and the winners will be selected at random and notified the next day. If I have not heard from the winner by Friday 4th May (Star Wars Day), then I will select another. UK entrants only please. Good luck!
