The A-Z Challenge – X is for Xenodocheionology – #atozchallenge

This is an awesome word that I can’t say, but it applies to me as it’s ‘a love of hotels and inns’. I do really like hotels and staying in them, be it Premier Inn, Spanish apartment or something tres posh, I love to explore a hotel room, make a cup of tea with the complementary sachets and have a shower with the complementary shower products. Yes, I am, in fact, a scavvy.

The best place I’ve ever stayed for good complementary stuff and general poshness was The Lakeside Hotel on the Lake District. This was pre-kids and was a nice holiday for us to go on when I was about 2 months pregnant. We don’t often – and never did really – stay in very posh places, but this was lovely and right on Windermere so perfect for exploring the Lake District.

Our room in the hotel was in the old part of it, so was decorated in period fashion, but up to date in the bathroom etc and had a lovely view from the window, so had a table and two chairs set up to enjoy it. The food in the many restaurants was nice too, we had an extensive breakfast each morning and one evening meal – all delicious and fairly reasonable in price. The whole thing was just lovely and well worth the extra money.

Do you have a favourite hotel?

Well I never would have put that word with its definition.
I still really like the hotel we stayed in on our way to New Zealand in Kuala Lumpur airport and who can forget our fab New Zealand room with en suite jacuzzi – we certainly needed it after luging down that mountain in the pouring rain. I still reckon she took pity on us and gave us her room ;o)
