Alert! Here be spoilers for book one in the 666 Park Avenue series! Please stop reading if you’ve not read the first book!
You may remember a while back that I reviewed 666 Park Avenue, a novel about a community of Manhattan witches and their newest recruit, Jane Boyle. Well, after things went a bit tits-up at Jane and Malcolm Doran’s society wedding, Jane has been on the run.
In The Dark Glamour, we catch up with Jane three weeks after her escape from her Mother-in-Law and Jane’s been cooling her heels in New York. After discovering that Malcolm has set aside limitless cash for her, Jane decides to reconnect with Dee, the friend who helped her try to tame her magic, and form a plan to get Lynne Doran off her back. The audacious plan? To send Jane into the lion’s den magically disguised as Ella, a mysterious brunette who is worlds apart from Jane.
After reading the first book in this series, I was really keen to read book two and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The action is as fast-paced as in the first and, now that we know Jane is a witch and that her world is inhabited by other magical people, it adds another dimension to it trying to guess who is normal and who is magical. It’s great to see some of the characters from the first book make an appearance and Pierce once again leaves us with a cliffhanger to lead into the final part of the trilogy.
