I have come to a very sad realisation over the past few days; it’s time to say goodbye to these beauties:
Yes, after nearly 13 months of wondering if I’ll stick with the running, it’s pretty clear that I will, so these – my first proper running trainers – will have to be replaced.
At first I was pretty suspicious of myself and thinking that I’d probably give up soon but I’m still at it and running about 10k a week – still a beginner, but a long way from the huffy, puffy individual who couldn’t run for more than 30 seconds that was first inspired by this book to sling on a pair of trainers and venture out into the wild!
So, now it’s time for new trainers, recommendations? My budget for this is probably in the under £75 range, although maybe this is stingy? Since the New Balance pair above were only about £30, I’ve no real idea of what I should be paying.
I will, of course, report back once I have a kick-ass new pair to show off, but for now, I shall mourn the loss – if not the smell – of my faithful old trainers.
It’s all about what trainers are right for you. My tack has been to go to a running shop (sweatshop, there is now one in Bournemouth) and having my running style analysed then buying a pair of suitable trainers in store & then rebuying the same brand & style in online sales to replace them several times. Think I may soon re-start the process after having the same or very similar style for 3 pairs. At least buying in store you can try them on, I also was very honest about my limited budget in the shop!
Good luck!
Ta – I was going to try the one in Parkstone this week…
get in touch with local running champ Steve Way. He’s a friend & may be able to give you good advice/shop 🙂 Good for you for sticking with it! 🙂
I’ve seen him at Parkrun Jo – usually as he’s lapping me at speed :/ but you’re right, personal recommendation is a good start.
