No review from me this week, as I have several coming up on specific days for blog tours, but a reading round up of the last couple of weeks.
I’m currently reading The Tuscan Contessa by Dinah Jefferies for a blog tour next month, and I think it’s the third or fourth of her books that I’ve read. It’s a story about the Italian resistance during WW2 and, I think, well worth reading as very often the Italian campaigns of WW2 don’t get the attention they deserve. I’m enjoying it so far and it seems to be shaping up as a proper romance novel – perfect summer reading!
Last week, I read An Officer and a Spy by Robert Harris, a fictionalised account of The Dreyfus Affair (a notorious espionage case in 19th century France). It really was excellent, with lots of real-life accounts of the case woven into the narrative and, despite it being 500 pages in length, it was a very quick read.
Also last week, I read and reviewed the fourth in the Vinyl Detective series by Andrew Cartmel, Flip Back. Now that is a great series! They’re really funny, but with solid mystery plots and I’m excited for the fifth book which is out in August.
So that’s been my reading week – I hope everyone has had a great week and isn’t suffering too much with a return to home schooling!
